The Whales, formed in 1983, call New London, CT (The Whaling City) their home, though band members reside in Boston, Los Angeles and Connecticut.
During the summer of 2015, The Whales came back together after a long hiatus and have found a second “home” in NYC performing regularly at such venerable venues as Bowery Electric, The Sidewalk Cafe, Hank’s Saloon and The Delancey Cafe.
And now they return to Boston where they performed in the 80’s at The Rathskeller (The Rat) and opening in New London for such Boston rockers as The Del Fuegos.
Influenced by folk, blues, punk and psychedelia, their records have received critical acclaim and airplay throughout the United States as well as Canada, France, Germany and the former Czech Republic. They have opened for such artists as Rick Danko, Young Fresh Fellows, Fleshtones, Yorma Kaukonen, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, The Reducers, and The Outlaws. They have also performed at The Living Room in Providence, The Grotto in New Haven, Nightingales and Downtown Beirut in NYC and the El ‘n’Gee and 33 Golden St. in New London.
